Shihan Jerry Minerva is the head instructor at Makoto Jiu-Jitsu Centers in Deer Park, NY. He is a 5th Degree Black Belt in Goshin Jiu-Jitsu and has been training over thirty years. He has also trained in most popular arts such as Jeet Kwon Do, Small Circle Jiu-Jitsu, BJJ, Arnis, Muay Thai and has a 2nd degree black belt in Japanese Jiu-Jitsu. Jerry is a certified fitness coach and has been a volunteer at CAPS (Child Abuse Protective Services) and has taught for the U.S. Army Military Police and for the U.S. Treasury Department. He is currently training at Brooklyn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He and his staff are dedicated to helping others achieve their goals and become role models in their community.
Here at Makoto Jiu-Jitsu Centers in Deer Park our goal is to provide the most effective age-specific Martial arts training programs available today. The Training Structure is based dealing with street situations:
- Free Fighting Self Defense: Teaches confrontations of street attacks.
- Stand up Self Defense: Teaches confrontation and self-defense from grabs, weapons and law enforcement tactics.
Our Student Creed is to build our mind and body as one, to respect one another, to obtain total awareness, and to never fight for selfish ends but develop might for right.
- Ground Fighting: Teaches self-defense from all ground situations.
